At SunCrop Solar & Energy Solutions, our mission is supporting low to moderate income households to save money, increase comfort, and be resilient to our changing climate through home energy efficiency and solar power.  

We are a small, family-run business that is currently growing and needs to expand our team. An ideal candidate will want to learn and grow with us as the business expands.

The majority of our work involves weatherizing homes including attic insulation and repairing air and duct leakage. We also do a small amount of business installing residential solar arrays and other general contracting and carpentry tasks.  

Job Description

Work Schedule

The work day usually begins at 7:30 am and finishes between noon and 5:00 pm depending on the scope of work for the day, travel time to and from job sites, and the season and/or weather.  Candidates must have flexible schedules Monday through Friday as our work requires staying until the job is complete and may not finish at the same time each day.

Occasionally our crew travels overnight for jobs out of town. Candidates would need to be willing to travel 4-8 weeks per year. Out of town work is only Monday-Friday and we return home for the weekends.

Job Role Overview

The energy efficiency technician will primarily complete weatherization work on residential homes.  This work includes repairing broken or leaking ductwork, installing attic, wall or floor insulation and sealing air leaks.

The energy efficiency technician may assist with the installation of residential and small commercial solar photovoltaic systems including the installation of racking, panels, inverters, batteries and rough wiring.  Candidates must be comfortable working at heights.

The energy efficiency technician will always work with a certified home energy expert who will supervise their work and provide guidance.

The energy efficiency technician will work in people’s homes showing care and consideration for those living there, their property, and their privacy.  The technician will always ensure we clean up any dust and/or debris we create on jobsites and remove all waste from the site.  

Training

We are committed to learning and training at all levels of our organization. Candidates will be expected to complete ongoing training and pay increases will be linked to successfully completing different training courses. We provide starting employees with a clear outline of how to grow in the organization and gain each pay increase. 

Position Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

  • Must be able to work on feet all day

  • Must be able to work in hot attics for up to several hours at a time

  • Must be able to work on hands and knees for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to work in confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces

  • Must be able to carry 50 lbs up a ladder

  • Must be able to work on a roof and at heights

Qualifications

-High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

-Reliable transportation
